- Find a Reliable Exporter: This is the first step in importing a car from Japan. You must find a reliable used car exporter. Because of internet, it has become very easy to find many Japanese used car exporters. But before choosing one, you must check for the history of that exporter and also check about the selected car exporter from your local Japanese Embassy. This is because there are many fake car exporters present in the market that offer cars at a very cheap price and also post fake pictures at their website. You can also find any customer who imported a car from Japan in this regard.
- Select a car: While importing a Japanese used car in Trinidad & Tobago, the rules and regulation of import must be followed. These rules are given in detail at the end of this article. So while selecting a car you must keep those rules and regulation in mind.
- Payment: When you have selected a car to buy the company will provide you an invoice. You will have to transfer the amount written on the invoice to the company’s bank account and receive a receipt of payment. You will then send that receipt to the company through which you are exporting car.
- Shipment: Once the payment is received by the company, the shipment process will start. The shipment type is also decided between the customer and the company. You can either select CIF that is the car will be shipped along with insurance and if any damage is done to the car you can claim insurance or you can select CNF that is car will be shipped to the desired port and no damage claim can be done.
- Car Clearance: For this purpose you will have to hire a specialized clearing agent who will guide and help you in clearing your car from the Customs and Port Authorities. You will have to pay the customs duty and provide all the necessary documents to get a clearance certificate.
Once the car is cleared you can enjoy the ride of your car on the roads of Trinidad. The rules and regulation of importing a Japanese used car in Trinidad are given below:
- Car should not be more than 6 year old.
- Car must be deregistered and should have correct information about mileage and manufacturing year.
- Right Hand Used cars can be imported but only with a valid import license.
- New cars can be imported without any import license.
- The vehicle must be Environment friendly.
