Kids Cause 12% Distraction for Drivers

This is a fact that we all do love our children but at the same time while driving cars, a kid can cause a great distraction. All the parents know that often they are distracted by picking up the dropped toys of their kids while driving the cars and sometimes this distraction can cause massive blunders.

An Australian research found that 12% of driver distraction is caused by the children, according to ABC’s “Nightline”. In 2011, 3,331 people lost their lives in accidents involving a distracted driver compared to 3,267 killed in 2010.

Here are some reasons of the crashes happened in 2011 when driver found themselves in trouble.

  • 76.4% of the drivers looked at the backseat passengers or viewed them in the rearview mirror
  • 16% found themselves distracted by talking to their children at the backseat
  • 7% drivers helped their children in eating and drinking.
  • 1% accidents occurred while drivers were playing with their kids.

Here are some tactics that you should use to avoid accidents due to your beloved kids

  • Pull Over Your Car

When a toy of your kid has dropped by him/her then before going down and try to pick up the toy please pull over your car first.

  • Set Some Rules

Although it is really difficult to set rules for little kids yet when your kids enter in a good understanding age, set some rules that they cannot take any eatable in the car or cannot pick up any dropped toys until the car stops.
